Dr. Margaret Heredia-Peltz is a passionate advocate for educational equity and a trailblazer for marginalized students. As the Director of Student Services at San Mateo-Foster City School District, she brings over 25 years of experience in the educational sector, including 19 years in various administrative leadership roles. Dr. Heredia is a seasoned professional spearheading initiatives promoting social justice, restorative justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and multicultural based teaching.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. She pursued a teacher credential in Spanish Bilingual Education and Broadfield Social Studies at Alverno College. Dr. Heredia-Peltz further enriched her educational background with master’s degrees from Alverno College and Mills College, culminating in a doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Dr. Heredia-Peltz has served as a bilingual and ELD teacher, instructional coach, assistant Principal, K-12 Principal, and experienced district-level administrator throughout her career. She has focused on policy review, professional development, and training as a strategy for dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline.
Dr. Heredia-Peltz' s dedication extends beyond administrative duties; she is a vocal champion for empowering the voices of students, families, educators, and classified staff, united in their mission to transform education and foster inclusive communities. Her leadership and commitment to excellence are pivotal in advancing the cause of traditionally underrepresented and underserved students in educational systems.
